Subject: Strange sounds...Help!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Dear list members, After a round trip to my folks today (120miles) I heard a strange noise from the engine compartment when I rolled the window down to back the van into it's parking spot once back at home. It's kind of a gnarly grinding noise as the engine idled. Never heard it before. Opened the engine hatch and the sound seem to come from the topside of the engine that the water pump is located...but it was loudest over the midpoint between the front/back of the engine above the drivers side bank of cylinders...if it's the pump wouldn't the sound be more to the back of the engine?? Or is this a symptom of a deeper problem.

Van is not overheating, I didn't see any leaks on my first observation, and it ran great for the whole trip. Oil was just changed. Coolant full.

Any tips would be great.
