Anyone who tells you to use the B+ for the blue wire should be crossed off your list of reliable sources. Just look at the Bentley wiring diagrams, any year, almost any model of VW, alternator section, and see that the thin blue wire used on virtually every VW since the mid 70s connects to the D+ of the alternator.

Here is a list of 16 different pages in the Vanagon Bentley where it shows a blue wire going to alternator terminal D+ !!! Every year and model and then some. 97.13, 97.20, 97.38, 97.43, 97.56, 97.62, 97.70, 97.87, 97.104, 97.122, 97.204, 97.222, 97.225, 97.32b, 97.33b, 97.34a,

Earlier today I sent you a detailed photo of both versions of Vanagon waterboxer alternator with a blue wire correctly attached to each. What on earth more can you need?
