If you're handy, you can always buy a 110V mig and do it yourself and have the tool for next time. The mig will leave little to clean up.

thats friggin insane. you should have asked if he included vaseline with that quote, because that's what he is doing to you.

10 minute job max. 4 tack welds on each side. how do i know? because i have had these swival bases welded into about 3 vans now, and i just take them to my local welding shop and they tack them in quickly. bring your own crummy blankets and cover everything with cardboard. remove any seats you can before you bring it over there.. was the base cut out neatly? when i remove them i cut them out neatly right at the factory tackwelds, so theyre a drop in and tack deal.
