In most cases you will only need to worry about three connectors. I installed one about a week ago in my daughter's 86 Vanagon with the following connections from the radio/CD unit. One (black or green) will be the ground. Another (red) will be always hot power to keep the presets and clock. The last (orange) will be the KEY ON power for the radio itself. You 'may' have a (yellow) to power an antenna retractor. The remainder of the wires (8) will be for the speakers. Remember to keep polarity the same on these or you will have poor sound and buzzes. if it turns out not to be that simple, remember to put the shrink tubing on the wire before soldering the connection. :D
