Subject: Propane Tanks---
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I started out to say "I'm building a Vanagon bomb --but decided to tone down the Subject line. Some electronic snoop somewhere might pick up on that and decide I was about to do something nasty!

I want to add propane heat to my van sometime after the first of the year - at least before I try to make it to Alaska this summer. Are the propane tanks that are used on the Westy's still available? New? Used? Are there alternative tanks? And how are they mounted? I'm thinking to install a Suburban heater on the floor behind the driver seat in my 88 GL, similar to what I had in my '68 bus. That heater was fantastic, but the propane tank was a bit small for the heater. In winter I had to fill it every two days. But even so, it served me well. In the case of my 88 GL, I plan to install some deep cycle batteries to drive the thing for extende periods, but without an adequate fuel supply the batteries become moot.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
