Hi all,

A few months ago I wrote to the list a question about how to secure a car
seat in the rear most seat of an 87 Vanagon GL Syncro. I received several
great responses but have run into a couple of rather large problems.

First, I have replaced my computer as the older one died with a hard drive
failure. Total loss of all data (including all saved e-mail). So now that I
have the chance to work on the van I don't have your suggestions. Is there a
way to look them up on the server?

Second, I have been trying to find a generic tether mount for the rear floor
but cannot get any manufacturer to sell me any do to their fear of
liability. Is there a source that will sell just the mount without having to
buy an entirely new car seat?

Again, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh and by the way, VOA has TSB's concerning the "LATCH" tether mounting
system for every model they have manufactured since 1984 with the exception
of the Vanagon. The Largest passenger vehicle that they made, specifically
designed to move families with children. And it's the only one not able to
be equipped, in some way, with a basic safety need. And they won't sell me a
mount for another VW model, also due to their fear of liability. I mean for
Pete's sake the Corrado has the ability to be retrofitted with a mounting
point. What the hell were these people thinking???
