In 1999, I had a new windshield installed. Old seal was used, lots of pucky put in it and the glass installed. Ever since, every time it rained, water would drip on the carpet at the corners back at about the back edge of the glove box. - both passenger and driver side. About two months ago or so, a new windshield was installed, this time with a brand new seal. The seating area for the new seal was cleaned throughly ...... I saw that. But I didn't see if any sealant was applied. Is sealant an absolute must on a Vanagon whindhield and seal?? New windshield, new seal, same old drip. It is raining now as I write this, and I have just been out to check, and there it was, wet spots on the carpet. But I cannot see were it is coiming from. I reached up and felt all around under the dash and got nothing but a little dry dust on my hands. I gave the antenna a good going over ... the van is parked, so if water is getting in there it's going to have to defiy gravity and flow uphill. Question: Is sealant an absolute must on a Vanagon windhield and seal installation?? I am really puzzled with this. Anyone got any suggestions???? Thanks, John Rodgers 88 GL Driver |
