Subject: Hanging a propane tank ~ for sans tank vanagons

Since you're starting from scratch you should investigate hanging the tank on the right side of the car. I've wanted to move mine for some time but never got around to crawling under there to assess the situation. I know the fuel pump, filter, and line are on that side so it might not be possible. Having the tank on the left side is a PITA if your sliding door is on the right. On my old 76 when it was time to make coffee in the morning all you had to do was crack the door and reach down to open the tank. Now with the 87 you have to get out of the van and walk around to open / close the tank. Sounds trivial, but on cold wet mornings its a huge hassle if you've experienced the convinience of the old arrangement. I sometimes forget to close the tank valve before packing up and heading home because it's kinda outa sight outa mind. The 76 just had a hose that ran across the bottom of the van and went to a fitting installed in the floor which then connected to the stove. Mike
