I used a set of panel mount amplifier type speaker connectors (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=090-475) with the binding posts mounted to the rear panel of the UPS. I removed the wires from the battery and soldered them to the interior connection points. Then I made some banana plug assemblies to alligator clips so it can connect to a battery.

I used mine in the Camper once, now I use it for a benchtop 12-VDC power supply for testing out various car electrical items.

Old UPS's are plentyful and typically the only problem with them is a bad battery. Pop open the cover and see what voltage the current battery is; some are 36-volt or 24-volt. I got my UPS for free, it was backing up a small phone system in the office I was working in and the battery quit holding a charge.

Good luck,

Tim

Err humm how creative do you have to be is this any more complicated than just changing out the existing battery in the ups you fav deep cycle battery ?
