The Optima is over rated, overpriced and for what you need only offers the advantage of being spill resistant. A good group 41 battery will do the job and except for some quality issues the $39 Wal-Mart deal can't be beat.

I am sure this one has been answered before but ....

I just got my van and the battery is bone dead. I wanted to replace the battery with a long life battery. I have heard from people that the yellow optima battery is the best but wanted get other peoples input. I am just wondering if its overkill or not as It is going in to a Wolfsburg 88 and not a Westy.

I am planning to install a headlight wiring upgrade, new car stereo with an ipod charger, and will probably pickup an inverter to charge my powerbook laptop and digital camera.

Thanks,

-- Rob NYC/Long Beach, NY 88 Wolfsburg, Silver
