trust me.. you cannot paint automotive finishes over silicone.. BTDT it aint gonna work. use seam sealer. and remember - the rust/water comes from BEHIND the seam. so making the outside pretty without taking care of the root of the problem is a waste of time..

robert, search the archives for "seam rust" you'll find tons of info in there..
