My window rubber is still original, but I had matching left and right
"mystery puddles" on each side every time it rained, no sign of water
anywhere but the floor. I filled the space under the windshield rubber
outside with 3M Heavy Duty Drip-Chek sealant and since then haven't seen a
drop. The stuff stinks like model cement, but it's like liquid chewing gum:
once it cures, ain't nuthin' getting in. Since Vanagons aren't known for
well-sealing windshield rubber and that's what's changed on your van, it's
probably worth doing anyway. It's not terribly expensive and it can't hurt
to try it.
