I didn't see anything in the book either, but I checked using the firing order of 1-4-3-2 and Cylinder # one is the left-back; # two is the left-front; # three is the right-back; # four is the right-front. This was standing behind the van and looking to the front. Ray

Ok everybody, this should be a simple one. I am having a "senior moment" and cannot remember the locations of the cylinders on our WBX engines. The old air-cooled ones had it in the tin, but I don't remeber where those were, either. As you stand at the back of the van, and look down into the engine hole, the water pump is to your left, and the air box is to your right. There are two cylinders on each side, one nearer you, and one farther away. All stupid obvious. Which is #1? I haven't had any luck finding out this little kernal of information, and I have been looking for three days. Please help this dispirited mechanic out....
