I would say Interstate is normally high on the list of most tests. If the car sits frequently I would recommend the Optima Redtop. I have one in my Miata and it sat for over a year and it started without a jump. I only have about 3 years or so but have been very pleased with the starting power and long charge holding ability. On the Miata it suffers from a long battery run like the Vanagon as it is in the trunk (and unlike the the Vanagon the motor is under the hood!) The motor spins much faster when starting.
