Hi Zoran

kinda hard to tell how long it took, because I just left it running for maybe half an hour. It prolly took less time than that, though. (For the record the van sat for a couple of weeks between refitting & partially filling the tranny till yesterday when it ran & pumped up the TC, but that shouldn't have made a difference.)

I followed the tip (apologies that gmail won't let me see whose tip it was -- too long a thread to peek) of getting the bus level -- and jacked up the passenger side too, fwiw -- then added fluid slowly over a period, until the ATF showed around the lower dipstick mark.

When everything was very warm (with the passenger wheel off the ground) I put it into gear, and the wheel spun -- so exciting :-)))

Unfortunately on the way to work this morning, in the van, the circlip dropped off which was holding the gear selector cable to the selector lever at the tranny. It's a 37 cent part from VW but will take a while to get here :-( So my drive home will be without any gears apart from drive -- no reverse or park or neutral. I tried to bodge it with wire, but no luck.

Good luck with your 85.

Al
