The cross over tube consists of:
   - long plastic tube
   - two plastic fittings (one on each side) - pops into tank, and connects plastic tube to evap tanks (eventually)
   - two grommets - one on each side
   - connection from plastic fitting to evap tank (same on each side)
     -- short vacuum hose
     -- small plastic tube
     -- short vacuum hose

  In the vast majority of the cases, it is the plastic fitting that breaks.  The two issues with this is that first, this fitting is fairly unique:  grabber fitting on one side to go into the plastic tube, grommet fitting on the second side to go into the tank, and vacuum fitting on third side.  The second issue is that this fitting is heat pressed into the plastic tube.  They are very difficult to remove.  The best bet would be to heat tube and slowly try to remove the old fitting.

  So to answer your question, I doubt the grommet is the culprit, so it is unlikely that changing it will solve your problem.  But then again, it is possible the grommet is your problem, so maybe, but I would say unlikely.

stop the leaking and just replace the breather tube when it eventually comes
