Robert, Since you live in Long beach, it may be time to pay me a visit. Your symptoms sound like both a bad alternator and possibly an O2 sensor problem. Of course, fix the alternator first as fluctuating system voltages are not a good thing for the ECU.

Hi everyone,

Have a problem not sure what it is, need your thoughts. Hoping this is a simple issue and not Vanagon syndrome.

I installed a new Battery last week, and had not used the van, today I put on the new plates and took it for a drive. Started strong. I noticed the battery Light Going on and off. It drove fine on the way to gas station.

After filling up with some super and bottle of dry gas I drove for about 20 minutes then all of a sudden itıs started to lose power, could not accelerate past 2 rpmıs (into the green zone). It then died. I restarted it, and I could press the accelerator down and rev the engine with ease, full power.

The moment I put it into gear it would got a put.. put.. pace, and drove with the hazards into a local mall. Then drove with the hazards all the way home as my 2 local mechanics were closed today.

I have a feeling this is far more simple than I think. Any ideas?

The pos/neg connectors to battery are clean and tight. What coul be going on?

Another battery connection issue?

Bad Battery?

I am at a loss...

Starting to feel like I bought something that is going to be hell of a lot work now.. Oh well. -- Rob NYC/Long Beach, NY 88 Wolfsburg, Silver
