Subject: "MIA's" Fraser Canyon B.C. Trip Report

MIA, My 1981 Westy ran a great weekend trip, her first time out of the shop since early December.

The trip was from Vancouver B.C. up to Hope, then up the #1, the Fraser Canyon, and if the name Hell's Gate means anything to you, that's what the last leg of the trip was like!

I allowed 4 hours, the first 2/3 I drove 65 mph with ease, small winds. After hope, it becomes very "canyon-like", lots of climbs, narrow curves, and lots of tunnels. It started to get dark, heavy rain, and heavy fog. My dash lights still don't work, so I high-beamed a couple of poor soules. Got to Lytton in the quoted 4 hours, shaken, but not stirred. MIA did well. Parked by Tourism B.C.'s Peggy's house.....MIA was fine for the weekend.

Brought her home today, the first leg again was rainy and gale force winds......so it was armstrong steering and no lapses in attention!

Came home via Hope, then south on the #7, a bit of a Sunday drive, but avoided all of the Monday rush hour traffic on the #1, so I got home in four hours again.

MIA has never run so well, it was great not to have to worry about her on a grueling but wonderful trip!!!!!!

Lorraine Sym 1981 Westy "MIA"
