I like this guys cranky approach. He's doing you the favor by offering up the vehicle. He probably convinced his in-laws he was doing them a favor by storing the Bus on their property--for a while. And while I know selling a car can be a drag with tire-kickers and the like, I'm not sure being a hump is the solution.

Let me make sure I understand, this guy would rather do you the favor of putting $1000 in his pocket than donate the Bus?

Having said that, on the face of it it doesn't look like a bad deal. Although I wonder what it would cost to get the guy to tell you the mileage.
