Dave,

Those switches are the same for all models, as far as I know, so anyone with a spare will be able to help you out.

I have had dashlight weirdness caused by ground issues. Though I never had such problems (yet) on my diesel, I did have to remove the fuse block and look up above it on my 90 where I found two crown-shaped ground fixtures that had to be removed and thoroughly cleaned. I don't know if the earlier models like the diesel have the same setup, it's too dark to go look right now. But if they don't have the same thing they have something that serves to ground all that dash stuff, and that is probably where your problem is.
