Is it possible that you've got the linkage rotated at it's attachment to the tranny? It goes on a sprocket type thing that you could have it rotated too far forward or back? Otherwise I can't help...

Chris

I am putting my linkage back together after a very, very long time and seem to be having some difficulty.

It is an 87 2wd. When I put the ball into the socket on the shifter and attach the bracket to the tranny it looks right. I then shift into first and the ball comes out of the socket and is wedged and will not shift again until I disconnect the linkage from the tranny. (I know there is a more technical name for these but they are sort of the same, lever (ball) and shift lever (socket))

It's like the socket does not sit high enough and as it goes to the rear of the van it sort of slides right out. I can't do anything about lowering the ball, it only goes on in one location and is not adjustable, and I dont see any way of raising the socket.

It must be an alignment issue, so what am I over looking?

thanks

peter
