Interesting. When I was living in NJ, the most commonly stolen cars were old-ish Hondas (not old by VW standards, of course!), and they were stolen for parts. Lots of folks would buy an old used Honda, but then couldn't afford the parts to repair it. So they'd commission a theft instead.

The cops told me all about it when my 1990 civic was stolen, then found two days later missing seats, carpets, and heat/AC ducts.
