Please remember the catalytic converter is "full" of "HEAVY METAL" that is a carcinogen. You need to be very careful not the breath any of the dust or take any of it home on your hands or clothes! Very mean stuff for little ones or anyone else. Much worse that asbestos! This applies to all makes not just Volkswagen. You need to run water through it while breaking out the element, then disposing of the junk that comes out, don't leave it in your yard.
