I picked up and drove my new 85 Vanagon with 150K home yesterday - eastern nebraska to southwest south dakota. The 1.9 liter engine is far more powerful than the 66 westfalia I had for a decade and a half and sold for $75, and my 82 westy diesel. While I'm going to put a 2.5l subaru engine in it, I have a question. The previous owner said he drove it at 60 mph. I drove it at 70 mph, about 4000 rpm, for 400 miles and water temp, etc, was rock solid.

What is the recommended top cruising speed for a well-used 1.9 liter watterboxer???

Thanks in advance...

Jeff Olson Martin, SD
