I noticed the salvage title part, too. But, I can't believe that a new Jersey resident cannot buy a New Hampshire vehicle and title/ register it in New Jersey with the New Hampshire registration. I personally retitled a 1970 VW bus with a registration from Alabama in Iowa. Drove for a year on the AL plates, too. This was a vehicle that had been junked in Iowa. They have tightened up that procedure now and VINs stay in the system forever. You HAVE to be able to do it. I've done several interstate purchases over the years and never had a problem. I'm sure that part of my luck has to do with the skill of the local DOT clerk and the fact that I've stood at that counter occasionally for over 40 years! (Naw, I'm not really THAT old. Just that I titled my first car at 14 years of age!) Al Brase
