I have had them on my Westy since 2004. At the same time put on new VW brake pads and associated hardware. I am very satisfied with them. BTW I rebuilt most of my brake system at that time (all new hoses, shoes, springs, wheels cylinders, callipers. Master cylinder was two years old and drums looked and measured out to pretty well new). The brakes now work very well and I have no performance issues with them at all. We tackled the Canadian Rockies this summer with no issues, and that was fully loaded for an eight week family cross Canada trip.

Based on my experience I believe most of the issues people seem to have with the early style brake (pre '85, I believe) is probably related to worn out or tired components...as mine were before the rebuild. However, I suspect that a bigger brake setup like the post '85 brakes will give a little more margin of safety when the components get "tired" and worn.

I was wondering what people thought of the Brembo Front Disc brakes they make, how they compare with others that fit the standard vanagon 14² wheels.

Thanks,
