Hi all, I am considering "upgrading" my 81 AC vanagon by getting a donor westy and doing the poptop addition, as well as perhaps the kitchen interior, all depending on what condition its in when I find it. I have located a local westy that needs work, but may be a good donor. Outside of the obvious concerns, I am wondering how much weight I am adding to my aging vanagon, and what that will do to the "performance" of the van. (laffing at performance and vanagon together <g>) Anyone know, or care to venture a guess how much the poptop and associated canvas and seals weighs? How about the kitchen interior? Approximately. I think I would be happy with just the popup, as the interior would be a bonus, but I bet a big tradeoff in weight vs remaining HP, so mostly I am just curious about the numbers. The site I was viewing is http://homepage.mac.com/mwsnow/PhotoAlbum5.html I don't need a bed up top, but the storage space and being able to stand up inside would be gold to this old guy who is tired of being hunched over in there :-) Much obliged for any input on the topic.
