The other day my 87 syncro westy drove like crap. For a while it has had intermittent problems with bucking and hesitation, but the other day it went from being like a flu to being like the black death. As I drove the five minutes from the store home it went from losing power and bucking to completely losing power. If I switched it off and restarted it fired up fine , and ran fine at full power for a several minutes, then a couple of minutes, until ultimately I was flipping it on and off every 100 yards or so to limp home. When in its fugue the throttle did nothing, I could floor it without the engine responding. I thought the dreaded vanagon syndrome came from running one speed for a while? Is the corrected afm part supposed to have an A after it? I checked and my harness is 025 906 302, without the A. I also looked in the air filter and found a bit of water in there, which has soaked into the air filter a bit. Probably a red herring, but that can't be helping things.
