Hello again, As I have mentioned in some of my other posts, my daughter's 86 Vanagon (AKA: The Mystery Machine) is her regular commute from home to her college dorm twice a week. The latest problem is the operation of the fuel gauge. It only registers about a half tank when full. Does anyone know what the ohm readings should be on the tank sending unit at both ends of the scale? Other than the obvious issue with a defective tank sending unit is there any other potential problem areas that I should check? On some other vehicles it is on occasion an issue with the actual ground to the tank. Is this an issue with the Vanagon? Also, what about an instrument panel gauge voltage stabilizer? These nifty units are an issue with both my older Fords and with my MGs, so does the Vanagon have one of these hidden somewhere?
Thank for any help, Ray |
