Subject: Stealth Rear Speakers?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed

Having recently been the victim of a break-in, in which the thief broke my vent window and stole my two rear box-speakers. I really liked the box speakers: I just placed them on the floor up against the rear seat box, and put an extra 20' of speaker wire inside the seat box. When camping, I could pull them from the van and run them out to the campsite for musica fantastica! Only real disadvantage was the left one blocked the heater vent.

However, the thieves in my neighborhood are apparently impressed by expensive-looking speakers (these were literally $20 each, but looked expensive), so I'm looking for another alternative.

I could go with the box speakers again, and just store them inside the seat box when not in use, but this sounds like a lot of hassle. Another idea I has was putting a subwoofer in the seat box (or somewhere else well-hidden), and replacing the two rear stock speakers with high-quality midrange/tweeters.

Anyone have any suggestions for good sounding, reasonably cheap, and invisible rear-speaker setups for a westy (85, with a/c)?
