Subject: Questions regarding throttle valve switch
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I was looking for my engine number (haven't found it yet) when I noticed an orphaned pair of wires near the throttle. Turns out the wires into the throttle valve switch are ripped clean out. I'm assuming something got hung up on one of my transmission adventures and I didn't notice it; can't really think of anything else that might've done it. The vendors want about 65 bucks (!) for this thing so I'm going to try to solder the wires back in. I got the cover off in one piece, and the switch itself checks out per Bentley so I'm gonna take a stab at it.

My van runs very smoothly but the idle slowly creeps, sometimes as high as 1100 and sometimes as low as 650 or 700 where it starts to sound a little rough. It always levels back out. It doesn't seem to lug or stall on acceleration. Also, I've never quite gotten the kind of gas mileage I've wanted or should be getting judging by what other listees report. I'm thinking I should be getting 2 or maybe even 3 more mpgs than I normally get over a tankful.

I'm trying to figure out from the function of this switch as Bentley describes it if it is the problem or is it part of the problem for either of these issues?

Also, do I have to pull the intake gear off to see the engine number or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks, Robert
