Subject: Soundproofing and Trapping Water?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

I bought some butyl mat from Second Skin. On top of this, I am going to paint their ceramic based polymer sound deadener paint called Spectrum Firewall. I am hoping that this will form a solid, water proof layer which will not get water under it. Even if it does, I have already sprayed the entire floor with POR 15, primer and paint, so that shouldn't be a problem.

You may want to look into their products at http://www.secondskinaudio.com. I hopefully will get to apply this this weekend. So I will let the list know how it goes. I still have to put the doors on before I have a real road test.

I am concerned about putting Fat Mat under the carpet since it is a = solid barrier. For those who have applied a solid barrier under the = carpet, did you leave it as "removable"? It seems trapped water would = tend to stay trapped. =20

Also, what did you use to stick down the carpet after the soundproofing = was applied? =20
