Chris, excellent point.

I agree this is not the forum to air ones vitriol over a transaction gone bad, or even to ask about a vendor and get 500 responses, BUT is is an appropriate forum to make an open inquiry about a vendors track record, AND request ALL responses be returned OFF list!! The question needs to be asked openly of the membership, but all responses need to be private, as does the pros and cons of any particular vendor.

You are quite right in my opinion, that the transaction between a list member and a vendor is a private financial matter, and all the details of it good or bad don't need to be aired here.

I like having the vendors working with this group, but this is no place to beat up on them when we get PO'd about something we perceive as poor performance somehow or another. For me, without them, I would probably not drive a Vanagon simply becasue of how difficult it is to get parts in my area. Additionally, because of the connection of The List to the Vendors, I am allowed to gather information about each from the membership to determine which one I want to do business with. But I don't drag all that out in the public forum. It's inappropriate. Besides, opinions are like navels, everybody's got one, and like variations in navels, - being either inny's or outy's/ /with an occassional flat one/ - /opinions vary posittive or negative, and like anvels,/ /they / / are pretty useless most of the time.

But like I said, airing all that here on this list is inappropriate, period.

Besides taking up band width in an inappropriate place, it offends my sense of fair play.

And not only that, it gripes my b**t to have to deal with it on my computer. Even the necessity to expend the energy to hit the delete button for such stuff is offensive. I have enough to do already.

I have spoken.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
