For each cylinder: Turn engine to TDC of the compression stoke for the cylinder. Loosen rocker screw, turn back in until slack is taken up, then tighten additional 1-2 turns. Tighten lock nut. Repeat for all 4 cylinders. If a lifter is tight and the valve starts to lift, let engine sit for a while after adjusting. Replace valve covers. Then start engine, allow to warm up noise and all. Rev engine. An air bond or stubborn lifter may need 10-15 minutes at high rpm. Go for a drive.
