Yes I'm super biased, yes I agree Banff is not central. But Banff is an Amazing destination, and just because a destination is central (or amazing) does not mean people will go.

Acording to my Rand McNally Road Atlas, Belle Fourche (just outside Rapid City) South Dakota is the geographic centre of the Unted States. Its a solid 2 day drive from where I am (I drove to Rapid City about a month ago) and it would have to be a pretty special event to get me out there again. Not that it isn't beautiful, the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore are worth seeing and it looks like amazing summer camping but even with my liberal schedule a four day drive (two there and two back) makes it pretty undesireable, unless I'll be in the area.

My suggestion for John R is create an event soemwhere YOU want to go and invite the list. You'll get a few listees who its convenient for. If instead you want to go to a BIG VW event look into Quebec's "Club international de camping-car Westfalia" they often have several HUNDRED vans at their events.
