I am just finishing up some custom cabinets for my passenger van turned camper. I wanted the grey westy setup but they are hard to find. I am painting up some tan doors to see if they will work on the custom cabinets I made. I would have to agree that it is easier by far to buy an interior and install it. That would still take some time. But building cabinets is taking a long time. I used 1/2" plywood and special ordered a nice looking light speckled grey laminate. The laminate hides any screws and looks nice. I decided to put one narrow cabinet on each side rather than one large one on the driver side in the back. I also added a small cabinet just inside the slliding door next to the z-bed( a cut down weekender bed). I like the custom styling, but the work is probably not worth it. I don't think I would do it again, I would just buy an interior and clean it up and install it.
