it really depends on what you want out of life if you want mostly what the westy cabinet system has in it then the economic choice is just to buy a westy interior. for me most of the stuff in the west interior is useless. it looks cool kind of like a mini house but doesn't fit my needs. while i have not designed a complete camper interior i have build stuff like a bulk head with a sliding door and modified some cabinets to fit in addition to build a very rudimentary bed frame for a full size futton mattress.

i will eventually build a complete interior using only the west bed probably and build every thing else custom to fit my needs. one design parameter i have is that all cabinets must be detachable and removable in about a hour to half hour. i have build some custom work truck interiors like this in the past for companies that i worked for.

as many have said there will be work involved and if you haven't done some thing like this before there will be a learning curve. also alot of it truly depends on what finish level you desire ie the whole form over function thing, and what you want your interior to do for you.
