Rob, I haven't been tracking this thread, and I don't know about Syncro's, but here is something to try.

Disconnect the O2 sensor Disconnect the idle stabilizer valve. Start the engine, and allow to warm up thoroughly at idle Now try to drive it.

If that doesn't do it, check all grounds, and look closely for vacuum leaks. That hose from the crankcase vent to the AFM is always suspect. It will rot on the underside and you cannot see it.

I have been through this problem three times, and for each time there was a different cause.First time it was the Idle Stabilizer circuit. I disconnected the valve and it ran fine. Second, it was the hose from the crankase vent to the AFM. Rotted completely through on the underside. Third, and the most recent - it was the O2 sensor - actually a bad connection where the O2 sensor was spliced in - but the effect was the same..
