Subject: Re: Building one's own Camping Cabinets?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

I plan on doing a mix, an amalgamation of Westy, Riviera and my own custom design.

in my 1980 Riviera I love the 2 thinner back cabinets either side of the hatch, I can carry poles and such up to 6ft long no problem.

I do prefer the westy bed cabinet and frame. but I as many others don't use the kitchen as often as a perm install warrents.

MY solution is to use a set of the slide in middle bench rails, and build my kitchen to slide in on them.

while camped i could either remove it for use closer to the picnic table, or slide it to the slider opening and use while not standing inside. or just leave it home if it's only myself and take my small briefcase stove and a cooler.

i'm planning on building my syncro restoration for a roadtrip (to VW shows an such) as well as a camper. so having the ability to slide the 2passanger middle bench in is a plus, ( or my 85 single captains chair).

for me it's all about modular in the main cabin area..

ohh BTW my slide in kitchen will use a RV oven/range so I can make pizzas and meatloaf when camped. I forgo the sink and convience of potted water, but thats camping.. carry in carry out. unless my 5gal SS soda keg tap system is going to work.. they can dispense water, soda, beer .. *smiles. man I hate bottles while camping... paper cups, beer and a campfire..
