I was told by an Alaska DOT person that the new (relatively so) bridge built oven Canyon Creek on the Seward Hiway was the first bridge built using all metrics in it's design. It has a huge single column supporting the bridge right in the center and is supposed to be earthquake resistant. Now that bridge is way up over that creek which runs in a deep gorge and is located right at the turn-off to Hope, Alaska.

MY hope is I ain't on it the next big shaker Alaska has!!
