I own the same color I believe....and that burgundy color probably has alot of good red pigments underneath---You should at least try to have to compound the paint ---it's a big job by hand and takes some upper body strength--compound on/compound off daniel-son ---- My advice is pay someone to run a buffing wheel over it lightly-you might spend 50-100 bucks...--(dont get some Jr. bodyshop mechanic who will burn thrrough the paint at high speed and leave swirlmarks all over)---shop around a bit I own my own buffing wheel-----you can also buy those big giant vibrator-type orbital polisher for $40 bucks at wal-mart and do it yourself and not have to worry about swiling or burning thru the paint... now is a good time of the year to do this type of work---in the hot heat you will find the compound will heat up and dry up on the paint ....then it is hell to get off

Meguiers diamond cut liquid compound always worked well for me when I was a "Jr Body Mechanic " burning thru paintjobs 20 years ago...

Particularly faded are the pop-top, front, and the sliding door areas. I have been thinking about putting a fresh coat of paint (same color) to rejuvenate its look. My concern is what it will do to its resale value. Another concern is the cost of a good paint-job. I am thinking of spending about 1K. What do you think? And what have you done to your Vanagons?
