Even the metric world uses factors other than 10.  Does anyone
remember the history behind the factors 60 & 360?  e.g., 60 sec/min,
360 deg/cycle.


Having worked in a standards group at one time, I know there is a lot of
politics & parochialism involved behind the scenes, especially when it's
international.  For all practical purposes, "metric" really meant
european, for better or for worse.  IMHO, the change from descriptives
such as cps (cycles per second), psi, etc. was unfortunate.  Those
made sense.  But Hertz?


I do support the change to a decimal system, not because it's
necessarily always better, but because it's now universal.  Having
different measurement systems helps no one.
