I agree with Hans, the Subaru engine is easier to work on than the VW WBX....and more reliable to you don't have to work on it that often.

The Subaru engine is easier to work on when installed in a Vanagon than when installed in a Subaru! (the Vanagon engine bay is roomier than the Subaru).
