I was talking with the folks at S&S Headers today and they are interested in
bringing out a version of their header system for the Vanagon in 304
Stainless Steel.  They are going to do a run of 10 of the V71 header.  If it
is successful they plan on doing it on a regular basis.  I told them that if
I annouced this on the Vanagon List I would probably have 10 people signed
up by the end of the day, so they said, "Go for it".  Right now the only
factor they don't have for me is cost.  Since this is a test run this is
part of why they are doing it.  They want to see how much it is going to
cost them and therefore how much they are going to be able to sell these for
and still make a profit.  If you are interested in signing up to be one of
the ten folks who are reserved a set of these headers please pmail me or
give me a call.  I will put you on the list and when the headers are
available I will contact you with final pricing, etc.  However once you are
on the list you agree to pay the cost of the headers.  Don't sign up unless
you are serious about getting an S&S exhaust system in stainless.  I sell
their stock header system for $195 in mild steel, the stainless systems may
cost twice that I don't know.  The V71 system works on all waterboxer 86-91
Vanagons, 2wd and syncro.
