A quick count gives 23 clustered near the Atlantic and 37 in states bounded by the Pacific. 35 others east of the Mississippi, mostly in Appalachia, and 19 west of the Mississippi, fairly well scattered.

Sounds to me like the middle of our group is pretty much the middle (or a bit north of) of the USA.

The Black Hills make sense geographically, but can be miserable hot in the middle of summer. Does anyone have a handle on how many folks have kids in school? I'd suggest that this thing be put off till early autumn, like mid to late September, or maybe even into October, perhaps to coordinate with fall break for those with kids.

Living in Phoenix, I try to avoid going on a vacation to somewhere that's nearly as hot!

Just my thought - worth what you paid for it.
