Thanks to all who replied to my JB question...clearly it is not suitable
for my proposed purpose.
 
I kinda expected this to be the case however after seeing many posts
over the years on this list
regarding the use of JB weld for everything from repairing pitting of
cylinder heads through to repairs
in speedo housings, I thought it couldn't hurt to at least enquire...
