From what I understand from the article, yes. Disconnect the 24 and connect the 12.

ok...i got the clock apart... i see on the green PCboard there is a "12" and a "24" the "24" has a lead connecting the two halves of the spot. the "12" is unconnected.

what do i do, scratch away the connecting lead on the "24" spot and put a drop of solder on the "12" spot??
