Subject: Broken alternator bracket studs
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed

Hello all.

I just looked to see why my Westfalia's belts were screaming and I found that the studs my alternator rests on are both broken off. It looks as if the PO had broken one before and threaded as much in as possible and left if as-is. Now the other has broken off clean with the block (the other is broken .25 inches deep).

What would you all recommend? I've been spraying it with penetrating oil for a couple of days. I'm not sure whether to use a screw/stud remover or if this is unlikely to work. Any other suggestions.

Thanks for the help! Aaron '85 Westfalia 1.9 '85 Vanagon w/'02 subaru engine.
