I love this idea of a Vanagon List campout. I love the idea even more of everyone coming to one of the Buses By the Beach events in Michigan. Everyone would have such a great time they would want to come back every year. We have a very high return rate every year because everyone has so much fun. Our events are fun for all ages. There are younger 20 something's, to families with children, all the way to the retired folks.

If everyone decides that they would like to come to Michigan we (Buses By the Beach Volks Folks) would be glad to organize the get together and would make it a special event for the listers. Michigan is centrally located and easy to get to from where ever you are coming from.

We wanted to throw out an offer to organize it and to make it happen. We have lots of experience organizing large bus events. The nice thing is you do not have to worry about us hosting this event for personal profit. Anyone that knows us and has been to one of our events will attest that our mission is clear, have fun and do some good. The only thing we would want in return is an opportunity to raise a little money somehow for our charity. Like maybe selling Vanagon List t-shirts to commemorate the event. All the money raised would be put toward a 2X matching grant foundation through my employer and then donated the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. So if we sold 50 shirts and made $10 each we would raise $500. The matching grant would kick in another $1000 and we would be able to donate $1500 to the Burn Survivor programs. Not bad for just getting together, taking home a t-shirt and having a good time.

It always feels good to get together with good friends, have a good time and do some good for someone in need. That my friend is what it is all about! Come to think about it, that is also the core philosophy of the Vanagon list!

Let me know if there is any interest and whatever everyone decides is cool with me. I am really looking forward to meeting many of you that I have had conversations with on the list. Our current scheduled event dates are listed below.

Wishing you many miles of smiles!

Todd Olson

There is a big VW show in Michigan every year. Maybe it could be tied into that to get a critical mass? May 19-21 Buses by the Beach?

Tom-never been to that show, but looking for an excuse
