>>>Hands up how many carpenters on the list? How many prefer metric?<<

I designed and built my own home & most of the fine furniture in it. I like building things, it's also a interesting part of the film and animation business, backgrounds and sets. I think, I know which end of a tape measure to pull. What guy would admit different? It's like asking a Canadian if they love to canoe (they wouldn't admit if they didn't).... Most of my tape measures are dual scale, .. I'm a kind of hybrid type guy... ... if ya look in Lee Valley's catalogue www.leevalley.com or walk into any Canadian tire or Home Depot, you'll still see lots of inches and feet around..... I've gotten real use to kilometres per hour and my other car gets 5.3 litres per 100km (or 55 mpg) on 130hp (I don't have a clue what that HP would convert to, or care.. KiloPonies?).... I just wish I could put that reliable drive-train in my Syncro.... temperatures?...Kodak uses 68F for B/W and 75F for Colour (because F seems better in more critical measurements?)... me...well I use C for outside temps and F for inside the house, I heat with wood and get a lot of solar gain. I don't like swimming if the water is less than 20c and when the outside temp goes below 0c you're gonna start needing gloves & below -20c you're gonna need new ears if ya don't wear a toque. Plus your nose hairs curl and your foot steps start to squeak.

another measurement I've never figured out... the US is the only country in the world that uses mg/dl instead of mmol/l for measuring blood sugar..what's that about?...... all our Dr.'s and hospitals use C for body temps..

I'm going to raise my C, in Fla. next week and will have to invert my temp scale. I'm sure I won't even notice the difference. warm is warm hot is hot and cold is not. ciao RR
